Springpath Data Platform 1.5 Offers Improved Flexibility, Scaling and Performance


SUNNYVALE, Calif., July 16, 2015 – Springpath, a pioneer in hyperconvergence software infrastructure, today announced the release of version 1.5 of its enterprise-grade software solution, Springpath Data Platform. Springpath’s updated solution delivers new capabilities and advancements to support its growing customer base. The enhanced platform addresses hyperconvergence and storage needs of various applications, delivering superior data services, storage efficiency, high performance and scalability without limitations. With this release, Springpath further simplifies the hyperconvergence deployment process and provides new scaling flexibility while enabling organizations to become more agile through automation.

Top enhancements of the new platform include:

  • Simplified Software-Only Experience: A new "Easy Button" provides a single step deployment and configuration experience, further reducing deployment complexity. Customers can install Springpath’s software on variety of standard servers of their choice, including server models from Cisco, Dell, Fujitsu, HP, Lenovo and Supermicro.
  • Adaptive Infrastructure Scaling: The ability to scale compute-only nodes, initially available to customers in beta, is now generally available. This capability adds to Springpath’s ability to scale compute or capacity non-disruptively, resulting in the most adaptive hyperconverged solution on the market.
  • Agile Operations With Advanced Automation: New automation capabilities allow customers to schedule the creation and retention of snapshots that are not only space efficient, but also do not impact performance negatively. In addition, Springpath’s updated proactive monitoring and alerts improve administrators’ understanding of data availability.
  • Flexible Availability Configurations: Springpath Data Platform gives customers the flexibility to choose between stronger data protection with multiple replicas for critical workloads and capacity optimization using lower replication factor for less critical workloads.
  • Support for VMware vSphere® 6.0: The 1.5 release of Springpath software now supports the latest release of vSphere 6.0.

Springpath’s software, integrated with vSphere, dramatically lowers IT operational burden for variety of use cases including server virtualization, development and test environments, virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI), and remote offices and branch offices (ROBOs), while delivering a flexible and powerful hyperconverged solution.
