Springpath is more than great hyperconvergence software. Behind the scenes, there’s a great group of people we’d like you to get to know. This blog series will introduce you to some of them, and tell you a bit about their lives both inside and outside of work.
Brett Flinchum, VP of Customer Success
Brett’s first employer was his dad, Hoytt, who had a business that manufactured restaurant and store fixtures. “I always wanted to work for my dad, and I was very fortunate to live a lot of that dream, working for him during high school, college and several years after college,” Brett told us. “That was great training for my career today and I’m known to quote my dad frequently.”
Here at Springpath, Brett leads the Customer Success team. His work includes onboarding new customers, driving effective adoption of the service, and renewing and expanding the relationship as our customers grow their businesses. “We optimize our solution for the specific customer workloads and use cases to ensure Springpath delivers the performance, reliability and cost expectations of each customer,” he explained.
Brett and his wife, a pediatrician who “somehow never gets sick,” have two daughters, both in high school. Between the girls’ cross-country meets and soccer matches, and family hiking, camping, and biking adventures, Brett spends a lot of time outdoors. In fact, he’s often out training on his bike, and last spring completed his first Century (100 miles) in Napa.
A childhood in North Carolina made Brett a huge UNC and Michael Jordan fan. He also loves music and plays the guitar — everything from bluegrass on his acoustic guitar to Jimi Hendrix on his electric. After growing up as a Rolling Stones fan, he doesn’t limit his enthusiasm to a single band today. “I went through a long and arduous Bob Dylan phase, much to the displeasure of my wife and girls,” he said. “Right now I’m into the Avett Brothers and Old Crow Medicine Show, and some buddies from college, The Blue Dogs.”
Another passion is Harry Potter. “I’m a huge fan along with one of my daughters. We’ve both read all 7 books multiple times,” he told us, adding that when he asked his daughter which Harry Potter character he would be, she replied “without even a second of pause, ‘Hagrid, because you’re big, lovable, and kind, but mainly because you have a special bond with Honey (our dog), like Hagrid and Buckbeak.’”
Carlo Pabelico, Information Technology Engineer
First, you should know that Carlo’s first name is Carlo, not Carlos, which he gets called a lot.
Carlo has spent his entire life in San Jose. “I like that you can pretty much find anything you are looking for there, whether it be food, entertainment, etc.,” he told us.
At Springpath, Carlo is one of the IT experts who work behind the scenes to make sure the rest of us have the technology we need to do our jobs. When asked how he would describe his job to a seven-year-old, he put it this way: ‘My job is to make sure that everyone in the company doesn’t have issues with their systems or equipment, and to make sure the lab doesn’t catch on fire.”
Carlo has an interesting hobby – sport and target shooting. He recently started participating competitively, and calls “burnt gunpowder” one of his favorite smells. (Another is his mom’s cooking.)
Some other favorites:
- Cereal? Froot Loops
- Drink? Glenlivet 18
- Car? We didn’t ask, but we’re guessing it’s a Porsche 911 GT3 RS, since that’s his desktop’s wallpaper at the moment
When we asked Carlo what brings him joy, this is what he said, “hands-on work and spending time with friends.”
